2001 PINOT NOIR

A Wine Country Marriage

A perennial favorite from Rowland Cellars, the Ramspeck Pinot Noir owes its success to matchmaking: carefully chosen vineyards sources. A little more than half of the grapes are harvested from a site tucked between Napa and Yountville. The area's foggy summer mornings give way to warm, sunny days-perfect conditions for developing fruit with great ripeness and depth.

To create a more refined, Burgundian wine, we also sought grapes from a region with greater maritime influence and a longer ripening period. The search led us to a vineyard in Potter Valley, northeast of Ukiah in Mendocino County. The distinctive Pinot Noir grapes from this lesser known appellation complement our Yountville fruit adding complexity and balanced acidity.

Oh la la...C'est un mariage formidable!
