SANGIOVESE
'Super Tuscan'
The Tuscan region is Italy's
equivalent to the Bordeaux region in France. The term "Super
Tuscan" is used to distinguish between the lighter 100%
sangiovese wines and the more concentrated character of the sangiovese-cabernet
blend.
In the Bordeaux region, cabernet
sauvignon is the major variety which is blended with other Bordeaux
varietals. In Tuscany, sangiovese is the major variety and is
sometimes blended with Bordeaux varietals to create a bigger,
fuller, more robust wine and hence a " Super Tuscan"
"An infusion of fresh ripe
blackberries, cherries and fresh ground nutmeg. A floral delight
of rose petals and cranberries with the intrigue of spicy dried
herbs. Black current and cherry upon soft textural tannins, bright
fresh berry and cinnamon spice flavors followed by a strong finish."
